Cinque Terre, Italy
Cinque Terre is a national park – and, of course, a UNESCO world heritage site (what in Italy isn’t??) – comprised of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. I stopped briefly in all places, but spent most of the afternoon hiking around Vernazza (sweating profusely), eating pizza and taking in the sites. The small harbour was lovely and absolutely stuffed with small boats and people splashing in the azure waters.
Beyond the hiking, there and looking out at the sea, there was not much else with which to occupy one’s time (I believe that quaint habit of idling is known as relaxation). Consequently, I didn’t stay for long, before hopping on the train to Pisa.
