I lead a team of solution architects that serve enterprise customers in Singapore, helping them unlock innovation, and improve operating performance. I focus on helping customers identify key projects where they can demonstrate success on the AWS platform, and on supporting them as they educate and communicate new ways of working to their colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
I worked closely with customers in the public sector and financial services industries to help them make sense of the often-disruptive changes that digital technologies introduce to their business environments. As the practice director for Smart Cities in the Australian market, I use design thinking principles to co-develop business strategy, operating models and supporting the infrastructure necessary to help clients improve sustainability, liveability and workability in their communities.
I focused firmly on using cloud, social and mobile technology solutions to address challenges with operating performance. I led successful CMS and analytics projects, and, as part of the leadership team, doubled the size of the Sydney practice to more than 50 staff and $10M in annual revenues.
I concentrated on two practices: M&A related IT challenges in the energy and resources sector, and Enterprise Content Management (ECM), where I was the ECM lead for the Calgary. In my senior leadership role, I helped grow the team, led an iconic guest experience project for Disney, and owned the successful pursuit of more than $30M of ECM strategy and implementation work in the Calgary market.
As Accenture’s Enterprise Architecture practice lead in Calgary, I focused on helping my clients adapt their enterprise technology fabric to better align with and support corporate strategy. My primary focus was on IT M&A, and using emerging technology (primarily virtualisation and cloud) as an accelerator for merger, acquisition and divestiture activity.
Moving to San Francisco, I shifted my focus from software design and delivery to Technology Strategy & Architecture. With this transition, I was able to concentrate on IT M&A projects and the use of infrastructure automation as a source of competitive advantage. This work formed the basis for my writing on both social and cloud.
I managed software development and infrastructure projects for clients in the public sector. One of the most significant accomplisments was leading development of Pennsylvania’s award-winning disease reporting and surveillance software that helped public health professionals more quickly identify outbreaks and develop interventions.
As a leader in this start-up, I worked quickly to launch products, and deliver legendary service to customers. In my role, I developed a 24×7 data centre solution, drafted SLAs, designed an identity-mangement system, and created a comprehensive disaster-recovery and business-continuity plan. I also automated key elements of the build and deployment process, implemented SNMP monitoring of all network devices, wrote substantial sections of the database software, and worked with corporate partners to develop an OEM appliance based on BeOS.
As a System Engineer, and later a Technology Consultant, I implemented Manugistics software for both startups (iMotors.com), and blue-chip clients (Merial, Goodyear). Each engagement called for different skills including system administration, software development and the design and delivery of technical training. My flexibility, rapid learning and results delivered earned me the trust of clients, and made me a frequently consulted member of the professional services team.
I am a senior digital leader working at the intersection of technology, design and business strategy where I focus on helping customers deliver award-winning solutions that improve their operating performance.
For more than 20 years, I have been building products, teams, and people. I have helped double the size of multiple consulting practices, repeatedly scaling 100%+ YoY to more than 100 employees, and revenue run rates exceeding $30MM. Sharing ideas is a crucial part of my success, and I have published numerous articles related to cloud computing, electronic social networks, and innovation. My professional work is complemented by mentoring and teaching, most recently as part of the SP Jain MBA program, where I helped a new crop of leaders understand the power of hypothesis-driven experimentation in the modern enterprise.
Having traveled extensively, I currently live with my family in Singapore, where we enjoy the beauty of the city, the incredible access to food, culture and the proximity to other ASEAN nations -- and refuge from Canadian winters. ☃️
